Fright Machine
An antique fortune cabinet glowing green in an abandoned boardwalk arcade; inside the glass, a grinning skeletal ringmaster in a top hat raises one bony hand.

Saltmarsh Pier · Coin-op frights since 1913

One token.
One fright.
No refunds.

At the end of the pier, past the dark skee-ball lanes, Professor Marrow is still plugged in. Feed him a token and he prints you a fright: a tiny tale, an omen, and a dare for Halloween night.

Feed Professor Marrow

Drop a token in the slot, set the dial, pull the lever. Every ticket is a two-line tale, an omen and a dare. Print it, read it aloud by candlelight, or slip it under someone's door.

How scared?

The machine hums. Somewhere inside it, a gear turns over in its sleep.

The prize counter

Nobody has ever won enough tickets to claim anything from the top shelf. Some of the prizes have been there since the pier opened. Some of them were not there yesterday.

A dusty prize shelf behind chicken wire: a cymbal monkey, a jar of glass eyes, a jack-o'-lantern, a tarnished trophy, a rubber bat, a cracked porcelain doll and a roll of blank tickets.

What should the Fright Machine sell?

We're building the Fright Machine into a small Halloween brand. Tap what you'd actually buy. Nothing is charged; this tells us what to make first.

    Get the printables first

We'll write when the printable party pack is ready, and again next October when Professor Marrow gets a fresh roll of frights.
